Course Description

The PhD program offered in the School of Science enables students to complete extensive, independent research (100,000 words). In pursuit of excellence, Monash scientists set new standards that influence technological developments, contribute to improvements in health and social well-being, support environmental sustainability, and result in advances in industrial practices.

Tuition Fees: 

Malaysian Student: RM 42,333 per year costing RM 169,332 for the whole course

International Student: RM 46,556 per year  costing RM 186,224 for the whole course

 

This PhD program may be undertaken in the principal areas of research offered by the School of Science, including:

  • applied sciences
  • biological sciences
  • chemistry
  • food science and technology
  • medical bioscience
  • biotechnology
  • environmental science.

 

If an applicant’s first language is not English (i.e. originate from a country where English is not the official primary language), the ELP must be satisfied in at least one of the following ways:

Minumum Requirements

  • IELTS: 6.5 overall
  • TOEFL (paper-based): 550+ TWE 4.5
  • TOELF (internet-based): 79+, Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13 & Listening 12
  • Pearson Test of Academic English: 58+ communicative score 50 or greater
  • Cambridge English: 176+ no skill below 169

 

  • To apply for the PhD program in the School of Science, you must have completed a degree with honours 1 (first-class) or 2A (upper second class) in a relevant research area.
